The “Liberati Quartet” started in the winter of 2015 from the meeting, in the Codarts conservatorium, of four young musicians coming from different countries (Italy, Netherlands, Belgium). The band consists of Edoardo Liberati on guitar, Jesse Schilderink on tenor saxophone, Jurriaan de Kok on double bass and Denis Baeten on drums.
Their repertoire consist of original tunes, mostly composed by Edoardo Liberati (guitar) and some arrangements of modern jazz tunes.
The sound of the band oscillate between the “modern jazz” current (influenced by musicians like Chris Potter, John Scofield, Kurt Rosenwinkel, etc) and the more traditional jazz sound of the 60’s (Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk). Edoardo’s compositions are juggling with odd measures and advanced harmonies, delivering a constant “tension and release” mood.
Despite the band is pretty recent, they already recorded one EP and went on tour in the centre of Italy in November 2016. Their second EP, including only original compositions, will be released in february/march of 2017. They’re also “running” for some important contests such as the “Erasmus Jazz Price” and the “Leiden Jazz Award”.
